Right after
walking in its obvious that 36th Chambers had put a lot of time and energy
into the production for the night, Lasers flying everywhere, visuals in
your face and the Gems NFX sound system controlling the bass and when I
say Bass I mean BASS!
Right First
up as people started to come into the venue CAUSE4CONCERN were dropping
the tunes with Squeaky De Rixster cutting us with some sharp lyrics, and
the plates were coming thick & fast. The boys from Guildford showing
why they are tearing apart the rulebook when it comes to production, and
if their plates were anything to go by this year is going to be a big year
for C4C, Next the Man
like Trojan lifted the crowd with some all-new Street Beats numbers, getting
the crowd moving with his usual tear up dark tip style! Time for this man
to be getting some more recognition and playing at more venues where a
DJ of his talent deserves to be playing! Who else to
take over but DJ Lee accompanied by MC Frenzy and Mr Wong. People inside
were in the mood to dance and Lee did not disappoint by dropping some of
the finest tunes from past to present day, with some of the tightest mixing
that DJ Lee is famous for!
As we reached
12:00 a shadow fell on the dex's who was this you ask let me give you a
clue: Dub Dub Dub
Deb. Deb. Deb. Groove Groove Groove Ride Rider
Groove tore
up with 3 boxes full of the kind of plates that only Rider has in his possession!
Tunes were rolling thick and fast and the people inside seemed to be impressed.
A lot of people say that Grooverider doesn't have what it takes any more,
but for us he will always be the God Father of Drum & Bass (D&B
probably wouldn't be where it is today with out this man). Criticism was
quickly silenced when Rider launched into a dark set that kept the vinyl
junkies guessing, and the people ripping up the dance floor!
Then came
Usual Suspects, OH MY GOSH, what a set MC Fats on the mike singing his
heart out B2B with Frenzy and Wong! We at 36 hate the word dark because
it doesn't do the tunes justice we think a better word would be advanced
and that's what Suspects delivered, cutting edge Drum & Bass moving
the scene to where it needs to be!
Right slight
problem next we had Bad Company booked but they had commitments in Washington,
(life of a promoter) so we got DJ SWIFT. This was the first time Mambi
had been to Reading and he couldn't get over how much the Reading crew,
love their tunes. I think a better name for Swift would be DJ 2 Tunes;
because that’s what he does this Boy could mix for England. Immediately
he had two tunes in the mix and from there he went into something like
Champion Sound (Total Science remix), into Pulp Fiction 2000 into plate
after plate we will bring him back to Reading soon but until then I've
had his tape playing continuously! (Check the site soon for MP3)
Then due to
Optical having hearing problems Randall went to Brazil to represent. So
I know what your thinking NO RANDALL, but we had a little surprise for
the Crew in the name of MATRIX & FIERCE B2B (VIRUS CREW). If I'm honest
it was very difficult standing next to a box full of Virus plates to fight
the urge to not to run full speed out of the venue with more tunes than
your average record shop, but luckily I avoided temptation. These boys
were here to compete for the last hour and this shit was personal and the
crowd loved it. Frenzy Wong and Fats lifting the crowd up to the ceiling
and the mixing was furious!
But it had
to end, thank you for everyone who turned up! We know were giving you what
you want but you wait and see what we've got for you next time, till then
keep checking the web site and we will do are best to keep the masses happy!
