Element & Synthetik "The Needle" (www.mp3.com/c-14)
REVIEW BY: Knowledge mag
These two Florida producers have definitely put their heads together with the intention of frying the listeners brain! The beat production is top notch and the bassline rhythm is one of the wildest I've heard in an online tune. It's a full on audio assault with swirling atmospherics flying about, never repeated and never expected. A definite Bad Company influence can be heard here as 'The Needle' pokes you in the eye with never-ending filtering of everything that moves! Without doubt, a production team to look out for.

S.A.Fred " Drum & Bass Intelligence" (www.mp3.com/safred)
REVIEW BY: Knowledge
Former mp3.com drum & bass featured track, former electronic featured track and my favourite mp3.com tune of last year! This track always pulls you along whatever the weather and mood you're in. The melodies are dreamy and lazy as the percussion and breaks all come from drum machines, which is a refreshing change. Pete Baldwin, who is S.A.Fred, has been pushing his sound for 13 years now and listening to his tracks you can hear all his skill and experience put to good effect. A truly unique artist who loves his music and pushes his own blend of mellow, thought provoking sounds directly into the listener's brain.

Pureplex " LoLO" (www.mp3.com/pureplex)
REVIEW BY: Knowledge
One my favourite tracks from last year, "LoLO" also did its fair share of chart damage in 1999. The live sounding percussion is the killa part for me. It just makes you feel like you're in the same room of some fantastic live jam session! The track on the whole has a great mellow flavour, which can be matched against Groove Armada or LTJ Bukem with its saxophone and swirling pads. The whole track oozes class as it winds its way to a more beautiful place. All lovers of jazz, live drums and wonderfully produced tracks must take a listen to the pureplex style.

Filtor "Molecular" (www.mp3.com/c-14)
REVIEW BY: Knowledge
The stand out element of this track is the shockingly devastating bassline. It's pure drone, Ram Trilogy style, with luscious deep tones and superbly executed filtering. The breaks are a simple two step work out with a frantic hi-hat percussion fizzing along to keep things buzzing. I'm always a sucker for interesting background sounds and 'Molecular' has a very strange metallic 'conveyor belt' sound. It's either that or some kind of train pulling away from a dark, desolate subway station. 'Molecular' progresses nicely and the huge monster bassline is joined by a more piercing line which works nicely. In previous reviews of this guys work, I've pointed out that his drum work left a bit to be desired. It's clear that Filtor has slammed that right back in my face because the breaks are hard and the snares are really 'slapping' with that great industrial sound.

FUSeBOX "Vulture" (www.mp3.com/c-14)
REVIEW BY: Knowledge
Very reminiscent of old Ed Rush, 'Vulture' has one of those huge growling bassline drops guaranteed to get any dancefloor into a frenzy. Some may argue that the sound is slightly dated, but the sheer power and attention to detail on this bassline attack should not be missed. A very addictive groove just pulls this track along very smoothly. The beats are simple and very effective and there's always that feeling that you actually are out in some desert in the blistering heat with no where to hide from those damn vultures! A tune that is constantly on my playlist and there's many more on Fusebox's mp3 page like 'Predator' and 'Firecracker' to keep you coming back for more.
