STRETCH "4 Real/Massive" (Reinforced)
REVIEW BY: SPEX
Out from Reinforced over the past couple of months, I've got to say, have been some excellent releases. From Alpha Omega to Digital to Special Touch and Danny & Kabuki, the second wave continues. As well as some neat little debuts, the odd veteran pops up. Release number 145 is from one such veteran, Stretch! This one is one I'll be playing to death! Stretch is back with two Killa Enforcers - 4 Real and Massive, these have all the trademarks of a Reinforced of days gone past. Both cuts re-creating the year 1992! The Mobb Deep Shook Ones sampled Your all alone in this world...... You should know the rest has the classic breaks deep subs, little bit of ragga, little bit of female vocal all combined so you can sit back and reminisce of days gone by. Flip it for more ragga sampled Enforcers bizz, 4 Real! This time the vibe is on a hardcore tip with the MC vocal teaming up with Mentasm blasts and soundclash blips.........and the deadly deep sub! This is one for those who remember and those who wished they were they were there when Reinforced were born!

SYKES "I Witness LP" (Iris Light Recs)
REVIEW BY: Bazzy B
A nice little LP that the Bombsounds crew recieved through the post, earlier this month. It comes from the up and coming liquid Funk star "Sykes". Currently being snapped up by the likes of the Good Looking Organisation, Sykes already has a nice little number coming up on the forthcoming "Cookin EP". "I Witness", clearly shows why he is highly regarded by the Iris Light Records posse. A mellow down tempo approach to the soundz we all love to hear works brilliantly, two tracks "Missing People" & "Paper" became instant hits here at Bombsounds! Its a must for all people into chillin and feelin the vibes. Check it out!

SPECIAL TOUCH "On a Roll / Soul Pride(Reinforced 146)
REVIEW BY: SPEX
My fave from the Special Touch has got to be the Bongo-fied Soul Pride, its got the luvit break(well that's what I'm calling it). This one just rides along with a simple Rhodes riff, reverb on a vocal sample (dunno what its says though?) and the tight bong rhythms. Oh and that classic break beat. On A Roll this is a deep jazzy number. More tight production in the rhythm section a bassline that rumbles along with a sax and the odd moan from a female. For a second release on a top notch label this one moves you. Also out on the Reinforced Label is Always and Just A Groove . These 2 are both on the, dare I say, Liquid tip, so two more funk-a-fied Drum and Bass chilla's from the Special Touch Team.

JAMES FULTON Coolio's "Gansta's Paradise" Remix (Dubplate)
REVIEW BY: Bazzy B
A new apprentice to the scene, and a nice little starter track by James. A remix of Coolio's "Gangsta Paradise", something long awaited by myself actually, has prompted James to make an album of collective Drum and Bass remixes. The track is nicely done, using snippets of the original vocals and then taking the stabbing b line sound and mixing it with some jungle stylee tech step. Nice little number for his first try. If you would like to get in touch with James, email us here at Bombsounds to let us know: Bombsounds@yahoo.com

DIESELBOY Invid(Palm Pictures USA)
REVIEW BY: SPEX
Oh my Gosh! From one of the most prolific Drum and Bass - Jungle DJs, Dieselboy, teams up here with Marc Caro (Tech Itch) and joined by Manchester's Future Cut on the double A side remix, bringing two hardcore chilla's! Right the Dieselboy mix, the man lets loose on this one! The bongoes, the hardcore blast from the past (T99 4 the spotters), along with the distorted Reese Bass (put into various trax from Ray Keith and DJ Trace), filtered, twisted and distorted with the rhythm building bongos. A tuff 2 step drum arrangement leading to the Amen rinse to the end, yep! yep! This one works. All the ingredients to make them nutty American Ravers lose their minds. So will Future Cut match the original. Check for Ya self, I think he does. The bongo rhythm from the original is in here, this time with some extra atmospherics n strings build for a bit, but then a little reese bass creeps in and then BOOOM! Amen pressure from the Manchester Crew Future Cut which will take you to brink......Like most Amen based track.......!!?? worth picking up on this US Release. Will it ever get a UK one? (info welcome). ......

SPLASH CREW "Babylon - (Juice Records).
REVIEW BY: SPEX
Well at last its finally here........Babylon. This time around we are getting the Y2K treatment from one of the biggest and most respected names in the business Dillinjah. The intro is quite light and you all know why. Yeah for that drop, that Dillinjah drop! The beats, the bass, the whole thing has the trademark of D stamped all over it, this time the dogz are let loose! Once again the flip has something for those who missed out the first time around, yep....The original lick! So don't miss out on two classics on one piece of vinyl.

DIGITAL "Underpass / Prologue(Genetic Stress).
REVIEW BY: SPEX
So what is Spirit doing for Genetic Stress, releasing another good groove. Prologue is on the minimal tech level, utilising the 808 Drum Kit sound, 303 Bassline, like a Modern Day Journey Through Detroit. I think this was originally slated for Photek's Label (Photek Productions) a while back, so was Tex 97, but even that has been released on another label (Function - from Sound Bwoy Digital). Right back to the programme, Underpass, where as Prologue was minimal this has more dancefloor appeal. Its has a Phantom Force feel to it, this has been championed and playlisted by many. Even that mad man John Peel@Peel Archers has played it and likes it very much. Nice one Johnny......! You got to check it now haven't cha!!!
