TOTAL SCIENCE "Freak Me / Sophisticated Bitch" (Timeless)
REVIEW BY: Bazzy B

They seem to be getting everywhere these guys. What is it with them? They seem to be unleashing themselves with style, and this is no exception. Freak me is a track that provides us with a hard cutting edge of the forefront of Drum and Bass. A kickin Bass with stylish riffs and acute drums, turn this on the other side and you have an equally as good a track. Another top notch production from these guys.

RATING: 7/10

SUV 'Parklands / Dark Angel' (Full Cycle)
REVIEW BY: Bazzy B

Bristol's undercover agent is back with Full Cycle to whip us up with a nice piece of bass and beats. 'Parklands' is a violent clash of instrumental magical percussives while the on the b side it skips down into the sewer for a spell. Suv as usual being at the top, and bringing us a great feel to the drum and bass we never thought existed.

RATING: 6/10

JONNY L 'Space Off / Move Upon' (Piranha)
REVIEW BY: Bazzy B

Jonny turns his label round on this, its fourth release, moving away from last years focus on endless filtered basslines for a welcome return to concentrating on the beats. Weighted bass attempts to topple snares from their fulcrum, tapping hats keeping time through a crunching roll interrupted only by a four-note sub drift. The rattling top end of 'Move Upon' is a welcome move from straight two step with a loping low end providing the vocal decoder which switches percussive hardware from drifting atmospherics.

RATING: 8/10

DECODER 'Concussion LP' (Technical Itch)
REVIEW BY: Bazzy B

I have been after this one for a while now, and the boy's from Tech Itch are proving to be one of the most talented labels on the scene. Beale is back with a follow up to his 'Dissection' longplayer, released on Hardleaders back in 1998, with a more soothing style to the bass. A top notch album full of surprises and a well deserved review. Keep yours eyes peeled for an interview to appear in the mag from this guy.

RATING: 7/10

FOURPLAY 'Magic Man/Pleasure' (Tiamat)
REVIEW BY: Bazzy B

Juice open up their latest label outing with a twelve of pure voodoo, cutting bleeping electronica with more organic instrumentation - rattling percussives the single constant in a track which boasts hoarse basslines, lazy horns and a fog of orchestration. 'Pleasure' is different again, terse synths played off simple beats and b-movie vox. Just different enough to stand out.
