Date: 03-03-01
Location: Tivoli (Bremen, germany)
DJs: Usual Suspects, DJ Skitty, DJ XL, DJ Slider, DJ Phunkee, DJ Klimax
MCs: Herbzy, Little Monk
I arrived at the Tivoli at around half twelve, which was surprisingly
packed
already. So I was just in time to see the last half of DJ XLs set unfortunately
missing out on DJ Klimax's set. XL was on fire as usual, MC Little Monk was rocking
the mic.
For those who don`t know XL, he was the first german dj to play at One
Nation
two years ago and that shows that he`s one of the top dj's of the north
German
dnb scene.
At One O'Clock it was time for the Usual Suspects (See pic top right), but it was only
one
Suspect, as the others were on holiday trips. But compared to other
sets
I had heard of them through the net or on tapes before, you couldn`t hear a
difference- 2
hours of finest Hardware sounds followed. Vocal support came from MC
Herbzy, his
third appearance in Bremen proved again that he is far too underrated (
at least
in germany) and I bet we`ll hear a lot more of him soon. My personal
favourites
of the set were the End Of Days rmx, Dillinja's relick of Love Is Not A
Game,
Total Sciences remix of Murder Inc and a couple of unnamed dubs by the
suspects
themselves. The crowed showed their appreciation with horns and
whistles and the
whole dancefloor was burning. John Bs Up All Night closed the 2 hour
set, the
rewind was guaranteed, everyone totally freaked out.
Following the
Suspects was
DJ Slider, another Lifeline Resident from Bremen. But I think his more
jump
up influenced set really didn`t fit in after the hard sound of the
Suspects.
Some of the people left, cos they thought the sound would continue the
rest of
the night and u could see some holes in the masses, but they only
lasted for an
hour.
At four it was time for Birminghams DJ Skitty, second time around
in
Bremen. I remembered his first set, half a year or so ago, very good,
but this
one was even better. With the intro coming through the pa the people
moved back
on the dancefloor, no need for Herbzy to call em. Two hours of finest
selection
and mixing, a lot of stuff from Ram, Hardware and Co showed that you
don`t
always need big names from the UK to have a good rave, big up the
Skitty!
Due to
the start of our football season I had to leave early at around 5, but
the place
was still packed and the remaining people had to be thrown out by the
security
after the last set of DJ Phunkee.
Shouts to: XL, Jenny and the rest of Lifeline Promotions, Herbzy,
Skitty, the
Suspects and Olli
